Sabrina and Allen were married in a ceremony at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel with a reception at the Royal King Palace in Surrey, BC. It was an amazing eighteen hour day filled with love and I was thrilled to be a part of it.
The entire wedding took place over four days. The first day was the mendhi at the bride’s home. The second day was the Sangeet, held at the Bombay Banquet Hall. See the blog post on that here. The ceremony and reception that I’ll talk about in this post were both on the third day. Then, the grand finale was a black tie event where Sabrina wore a gorgeous Vera Wang gown, but that will be in the next blog post!
The exquisite beaded gown that Sabrina is wearing is called a Lehenga. She had one for the ceremony and another for the reception. Each one was custom made and weighed more than thirty pounds! They were absolutely breathtaking, even though they were extremely heavy. But the bride was truly stunning despite the heavy lifting. She also had two custom pairs of Christian Louboutin heels. Every bride’s dream!
Allen, a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, looked regal in his traditional attire. The bejeweled coat and sword were magnificent.
This elaborate wedding was steeped in both tradition and glamour. There were a number of incredible people who pulled the day together. The wedding planner was Geneve McNally of DreamGroup Events. Racquel Lacson did the bride’s hair and makeup for the ceremony and again when she changed for the reception. Jayna Marie was the hair and makeup artist for the bridesmaids. Bora from Wise Cats Studios was the videographer and was wonderful to work with!
The ceremony was opulently decorated with an AMAZING flower structure crafted by Granville Island. The ceremony music was provided by the Occasions Quartet. Granthi Jagdev and Gurtaj Grewal officiated the ceremony.
After the ceremony, we went to Stanley Park for bride & groom portraits with an amazing Rolls Royce! The bride and groom looked so happy together. It was such a pleasure to capture this special moment. My second shooter, Daniela Ciuffa, and I were able to take some beautiful portraits of the couple as they went to get ready for the reception. Sabrina changed into her second spectacular Lehenga. Allen also had a costume change after the ceremony. He even shaved his beard between the ceremony and reception! Both the bride and groom were stunning in their second outfits and we took portraits of them in their second outfits as well.
The reception continued the theme of regal elegance, with décor by Sunny Sunam. The speeches given at the reception were so touching that there were many tears, but the music all day & evening was so much fun i wanted to dance, too!
Stay tuned for the next chapter in this stunning wedding, the Vancouver Club Black Tie event! It will be posted in a few weeks!
