I will never forget hearing the story of when Dave proposed to Nat – it was one of the craziest/coolest proposals I have ever heard of. They had gone skydiving in Niagara Falls and when it was her turn to land, he had written on a sheet … Will You Marry Me … he proposed on bended knee when she was on the ground! They were so excited to tell the rest of the family they drove straight to Hamilton to show the video and tell us the story. I happened to be visiting Hamilton at the same time and I was so surprised and excited when they asked me to be their photographer.
When my husband, son, and I went to Geraldton for the wedding we knew we were in for a great time catching up with all of our wonderfully crazy cousins, , my sister and her family, as well as my mom & dad. I couldn’t wait to hang out at the cabins in Kenogamisis resort … but I knew some of the time was going to be sad as well. Dave’s mother Joanne who is my cousin was very sick and was still fighting her 4 year bout of cancer. It was a very emotional week for everyone and very difficult for me to shoot at certain parts of the day (the ceremony & mother/son dance were incredibly hard). But, other parts were an absolute hoot because I had a ton of fun with Nathalie & Dave as well as my amazing cousin Sara who was my assistant / chaffeaur for the day. Nathalie & Dave have the cutest relationship and it was truly an honour for me to spend so much time with them capturing their memories. It was a pleasure being invited to all the pre-events for the wedding and getting to celebrate during the reception.
Joanne passed away just before Christmas and we miss her every day. I love both her kids (Amy & Dave) so much and would do anything I could for them. We all try to find as much joy and love as we can in this life and we know that our time here is precious. I am so happy that Nat and Dave have found love and on their way to enjoying their lives together, finding joy in every moment. Here’s looking at you kids! Love you both so much and thank you for having me play such a big part in your wedding!
