When I moved here almost 8 years ago, I attended a one day work shop and this feisty little italian kept speaking her mind and I thought … hmmm I have to meet this woman. Luckily, I am also a feisty little italian and Daniela and I developed this beautiful friendship! She has become one of my very dear friends where we not only hang out, but we often shoot together as well! When her and Stewart started dating I had a feeling he was the one who was going to run away with her heart. These two are perfect for each other. I was shooting a wedding in Ontario when she called me from Calgary (where he proposed) to tell me she was getting married … I was absolutely thrilled for them!! To be asked to photograph her wedding was such a huge honour for me and something I will always treasure. To have a talented photographer ask you to shoot her wedding is an incredible gift and I am so happy she trusted my vision enough to ask me … either that or she just wanted to boss me around for the day :)
We started the day off at the Granville Island Hotel where the amazing Judy Wong and lovely Danielle West were starting to work their magic in transforming Daniela into the beautiful bride that she was. She was truly stunning to look at and had such an air of sophistication and glamour. Elsa Corsi jewlery, Badgley Mischka shoes and a custom wedding gown helped to complete her look. We then headed to St. Francis of Assisi’s Church for the ceremony to begin. Poor Stewart was so overcome with emotion he took a few seconds to catch his breath before he turned to watch her come down the aisle. His reaction was priceless and was completely blown away by how gorgeous she looked.
After the ceremony we headed to Dr. Sun Yat Sen’s Chinese Garden for some portraits and then off to the Italian Cultural Centre where the amazingly talented Evan Orion from Flower-z transformed the room into such an elegant and funky affair. I loved the tradition of the Greek plate breaking!!
Many thanks goes out to my super sweet and talented friend Pardeep Singh for taking over the majority of the shooting at the reception so I could turn into a guest. Andy White who also helped assist and shoot throughout the day, it was fun mentoring someone on such a special day who has a ton of talent.
Daniela and Stewart … I love you both!!! Thank you so much for choosing me to capture these memories. xoxoxox
